If you own a bird you know that clean air is as essential as clean water and food. Here are 5 features that a cleaner needs to have in order to be deemed safe for your feathered friend.
Healthy By-Product---The only safe by-product of any purifier you use in your bird room or aviary is fresh air. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has determined that any amount of ozone is harmful to humans and pets.
Particle Filtration---In the wild birds are not exposed to the amount of dander, dust and other particles because they are able to dissipate into the atmosphere. In captivity they are often breathing air that has been blown around by the blower, but that has not been adequately filtered.
Using a cleaner that has a high efficiency particle arresting (or HEPA) filter is a must if dander, dust, and feathers are to be kept to minimum. Because birds' air passages are so small, it is essential that they not become clogged by breathing air that is clogged with particulates.
Continuous Operation---Since bird related pollutants go into the air 24 hours a day, any cleaner that has a hope of keeping the number of particles in the air to minimum must also be able to operate all the time. This means that the air quality stays high because irritants are not allowed to build to unhealthy levels.
Being able to operate safely and continuously means that the purifier needs to be equipped with a split capacitor motor which allows for high and continuous revolutions per minute (RPM). This means it can clean your air safely when you are there or away.
Long Filter Life----The filtration that you choose should have a filter that lasts a substantial amount of time. This yields several benefits to you and your bird. It saves money if you do not have to replace the filter every 6 months. And it also means your filter spends 100% of its time cleaning the air rather than being constantly interrupted for filter changes.
Low Maintenance---The obvious advantage to a machine that can take care of itself is that it frees up your time to spend doing what you love to do. Filters that must be washed, sprayed, charged or some combination of these are bad news because maintenance time is time that they are not cleaning the air.
Being able to perform simple maintenance such as vacuuming the outside of the cleaner while it is still operating is a significant advantage for you to have with a cleaner. This means that filtration is virtually uninterrupted, and your unit can send fresh, filtered air back into your room for you and your bird.

More pets and animal articles: - The Megamouth Shark (Robert Nickel)
More people have gone into outer space than have seen the bottom of the sea; scientists who do go on deep dives routinely discover tens or hundreds of brand new, never before seen animals. Also, if you're game for going down in history as the discoverer of something brand new, then keep an eye out for the Megamouth Shark while you're on vacation. - How To Get Squirrels Out Of Your House For Good (Henry Tattingstone)
If squirrels are causing havoc in your attic in the winter months, setting a trap is the easiest and most humane way to get rid of them. In a majority cases of squirrel infestation in the attic or in the roof space, the rodent is a female who is either looking for a safe place to give birth or to raise her litter. - Pet Allergies and Air Quality (Lawrence Reaves)
Although there are many allergies people suffer from that are caused by the consumption of food and drink, there are a lot of allergies that come from allergens that are airborne. - The Red Coats Are Coming to Williamsburg-Red Fox Kits Coming Into Color! (Richard Marquette)
Wildlife officials expect that red fox sightings will increase over the summer in Williamsburg and along the Chesapeake Bay. - Bigfin Squid: A Mystery of the Deep (Robert Nickel)
What is known about bigfins is that their arms are all the same length, which is unique for cephalopods; normally they vary, and some serve different purposes. These animals look completely different from all other previously discovered squids; it's hypothesized that the strange bend in their arms helps to prevent the extremely long appendages from tangling with one another. - What Is The Baird's Tapir? (Robert Nickel)
Some animals are fairly easy to classify into families and orders. A chihuahua and a wolf may be very different in size, but they're both quite clearly dogs. Jaguars, lions, tigers, and ocelots all belong to the feline group. Even warthogs and common pigs can be placed side by side and the commonalities become clear. So when you see a tapir, with its protruding lower back, hoofed feet, and flexible proboscis mouth, what genus does it belong to? - Suggestions On Using Dog Backpacks (Brent McCoy)

Here are a few helpful pieces of information you should be aware of about dog whistles... - Vampire Bats In Mexico (Robert Nickel)
In classic vampire films, it's always the same: the protagonists believe that they have locked themselves safely in a room, and settle in for the long night. But once they have fallen asleep, a bat flies in through the open window - and transforms back into the monster. It's such a strong association for many people that most bats are now seen as spooky, frightening bloodsuckers...
