Spring is a beautiful time of year, but if your allergies go haywire because of all the blooms and pollen you may not think of it as such a nice time. This year why not get a head start on your allergy management?
Here are 6 proactive and non-invasive ways that you can take back control of your life and, if not enjoy, at least survive the spring in good shape.
1. Change your heating and air conditioning filters now so that regardless of the temperature outside, you can remain comfortable inside with the windows closed. Have the normal maintenance done early so that when the first hot day happens you can turn on your air conditioning with confidence and have it work the way it should.
2. Clean, or have your windows cleaned before the season starts. This will remove the dust, dirt, and cobwebs that have collected over the winter that will trap additional pollen making it easy for it to enter your home whenever you open windows. Having clean windows adds additional light and is a boost psychologically. So even if you can't go outside as much as you'd like, you'll have a great view from every room.
3. If you use your garage for storage, clean it out now so you can park your car there. This will allow you to go from your house to your car without coming in contact with the layer of pollen that will eventually cover the earth as the season progresses.
4. If you work in an office that provides a garage for parking, you might want to pay for a space during the height of allergy season to avoid coming in contact with a pollen coated car at the end of the day. The best of all worlds would be able to take the elevator down to the garage, and drive home to yours, thus avoiding the millions of airborne spores.
5. Clean up your garden now. Cut down and permanently eliminate weeds whose blooms may cause you problems. Remove piles of leaves as they are a source of mold which may also exacerbate your allergies. If this is a problem for you to do, wear a mask or hire a neighborhood youth to do the job for you.
6.
