We spend a huge chunk of our waking lives at work, and while some of us work from home, many of us go to offices. If you employ people in an office here are a few things to make their day more pleasant and them more productive.

A Well-Stocked Kitchen

It seems that almost every office these days has a kitchen of sorts, however, for some the kitchen can be a particularly repellent place. Clearly having a cleaning company that does a thorough job and washes up any dirty dishes ad cutlery at the end of the day helps, but there also needs to be lots of space for people to store their own food. It's probably not a bad idea to buy milk, tea, coffee and bread as an employer as these are communal resources that everyone will use.

Games

Everyone (you would hope) agrees that the reason people come to work is to work. However, almost everyone also agrees that to be stuck behind a desk for several hours at a time doesn't produce the most effective work and for most of us we need to get up and leave our computer screen to do something completely different for a few minutes.

By having a communal games area where staff can play pool or table tennis, or perhaps even a games console with a few multi-player games, workers will spend time together doing something completely different from their jobs and be able to bond at the same time. Really, why most businesses don't have something like this is staggering.

A Bit of Art

Whatever job you do, there is almost always a need to think creatively to solve the challenges that you face every day. By having an inspiring working environment with interesting fabrics - such as skytes hanging from the ceiling - or challenging pictures on the walls, workers will be inspired to look for different solutions to their challenges.

Music

Music is a divisive option for many. Some feel that they can't concentrate on their work while others believe that they work more creatively if they have tunes playing in the background constantly. It is important to listen to the views of all your workers before agreeing to play music, as if one person can't concentrate because of the noise then their work really will suffer.

As you can see there are plenty of ways to improve your office environment, and all have the added benefit of making your workers perform better.
