We all hit a mental "road block" from time to time. Try one of these tips when you feel you're at a standstill:

Cut pictures and images from your favorite magazines and create a "collage" of your favorites! By looking at the variety of images, styles, and colors in all of these clippings you may find a color or two that you need in your own work, a location that you feel drawn to, or the perfect outfit for your lead role.Leave your materials out. Sometimes it's OK to have an organized mess. By seeing your brushes, paints, and easels you'll be drawn to use them.

Keep a journal beside your bed. Often we become fixated on a character or location, but can't seem to find what else we want to include in our painting. Your fixation may join you in your dreams. By doing so, you may just find the perfect combination while you sleep, so make sure your journal is handy to jot down notes.Make sure to de-stress and wash away the negativity from the day before you begin to work. Negative energy can cling to you and cause you to lose your way while painting. So take a hot bath, relax, and enjoy some alone time before you tackle the next task.
