This is not going to be an article about free advertising methods that are at best a shot in the dark. For example posting in free classified ad sites might work if you put enough time into it, but there are better ways. Safe list marketing and traffic exchanges are another example of free advertising methods that work, but again there are better ways to do it.

If you are representing a home based business opportunity that is a legitimate way the make money you should be going where legitimate prospects are at.

1. Blogging is probably the best thing you can do right now to create traffic both today and for the future. There are a couple of key points to keep in mind about setting up a blog.

First of all you should host it yourself and not use the free blogging platforms. Secondly you should learn a few basic search engine optimization techniques as they pertain to targeting keyword phrases.

Once you write your blog articles around keyword phrases the search engines are looking for you should bookmark every article to the top social directories. You should also incorporate social marketing such as videos, podcasting, and free reports to create viral marketing and brand yourself as an expert in the area of your home based business opportunity.

2. Article marketing is another legitimate way to promote your business. There is a correct way to do this as well.

Your article should focus on solving one problem or one key point. You should write in a numbered list format that is easy to read and scan. You should create a simple resource box that's enticing enough to get your reader to click on a link back to your website or blog.

Once you've done this with an article you want to submit it to a handful of the top directories, or you can use a submission service to do it for you. Articles can be archived online for years to come and you never know when you will develop traffic from one that you have submitted.

This is two legitimate ways to promote your home based business opportunity for maximum results. These methods do take time and consistency to pay off, but there are legitimate prospects that will come to you from utilizing these two methods.
