Instead of complaining, criticizing, and trying to change a man, reward him for the things he does right. When you take this approach, you can literally train a man to do everything in his power to make you happy.

The reason why men suddenly pull away has to do with them feeling guarded, alienated, and defensive. Men aren't good at expressing their emotions, so he may feel distant from you for quite some time before you ever even realize something is bothering him.
