When you learn how to make a guy fall in love with you, a great relationship can give you the best feelings in the world, but a bad one can give you the worst. But how much of your heartbreak is your own responsibility...your own fault?
A story I read the other day made me wonder just how many women are letting their hearts get ripped out by men and then going back for more. I'm now convinced love truly does make us blind sometimes. The story went something like this.
This woman had been dating a guy and then discovered he was cheating on her with another woman. She made the wise decision and broke up with him. Then, feeling like everyone deserves a second chance, she started dating him again two months later.
She sees a similar pattern again when she catches him flirting with some other girls. But no worries, he says it's harmless. As you might expect, it wasn't harmless and she caught him cheating again. So it's definitely over this time, right?
Not so fast.
A couple months later they're back together again. This time he goes off to college and thanks to the power of social media, she catches him cheating on her once again. The story goes on like this for at least 3 or 4 more breakups and reconnections.
But here's the kicker. Here was the question at the end of her VERY long post: "Should I take him back?"
My jaw hit the floor to say the least. What makes anyone want to be with someone so much that they will put up with getting treated like trash just for the opportunity to kiss the ground their lover walks on? Mistakes happen and I understand giving someone a second chance when you want to get your ex back, but a third, fourth, fifth, or sixth? Where does it end?
As you look back at your relationships, how much of your heartbreak was your own fault? It's never your fault when you get cheated on, but if you ignore all the warning signs or buy into someone else's BS on a regular basis, then you're only setting yourself up to get hurt. If you don't look both ways when you cross the street, it's only a matter of time before you get hit by a bus.
If you take anything away from this article, let it be this: don't settle. You deserve the world and you deserve a man who will treat you the way you want to be treated. If a relationship isn't what you hoped it would be, then change it. Otherwise, you're the only one to blame for your heartbreak.
