Will he ever propose? If you're ready for marriage and have been dating a guy who doesn't seem in any big hurry to commit to you, then that question might be on your mind a lot more than you'd like.

It's not always easy to understand men.

For example, he might be planning a proposal right now and you just don't know it. He might be trying to get all his "ducks in a row" before popping the question, or he might not be the "marrying kind" at all.

So how do you know?

By looking at a man's past, you can often discover clues about the likelihood of him proposing. Read to the end of this article to discover exactly what to look for.

What A Man's Past Reveals About His...And Your...Future

Before we start looking into the past, it's important to take age into consideration. Most men don't start thinking seriously about marriage until around age 24-26. They're most likely to get married between ages 26 and 33. As they approach 40, the chance they will remain a lifelong bachelor increases while the chance of them getting married decreases.

But there's one exception. And here's where the past comes into play.

If a man is approaching his 40's, but has been married in the past, then he'll be more likely to propose than a man in his 40's who has never married. He may seem more cautious at first if he's been hurt by a bitter divorce, but he's still more likely to propose than if he's been a lifelong bachelor.

Next, here's a trait that might surprise you. You'd think dating a man who has been in long-term relationships before would be a good idea, right? I mean it proves he's capable of at least some sort of commitment, right? When it comes to getting a proposal, the opposite is actually true.

In his book, "Why Men Marry Some Women And Not Others", author John Molloy says men who have been in one or more long-term relationships with women but who have never been married are often "stringers". He warns women to beware of this type of man because a stringer is a man who, "...likes having a woman, sleeping with a woman, eating with a woman, possibly sharing his life with a woman without ever making a real commitment." A stringer may NEVER give you the commitment you want.

As you ponder the question, "Will he ever propose?", also look to his parents for answers. A man who witnessed his parents go through a divorce will often be gun-shy about proposing.

Next, here are some awesome text message techniques you can use to text the romance back and spark interest and desire in your man.
