The trust rod and the saddle must be properly adjusted.The trust rod stabilizes and adjusts the forward curvature and the length, and the saddle makes up that bridge physically supporting the strings.
The instrument should have that nice low action and have the ability to play in tune so that even a child or a female can play it without difficulty on the fingers. It is advisable to buy a half size lute for amateurs, especially a child. A quality half size instrument can cost less than a hundred dollars.
Some additional features are multiple binding, die-cast tuners, and white pearl rosette. The Yamaha now has a premium player that is not very expensive. The FG series with digital platform scales has solid Sitka spruce tops, fret boards and precise quality.
However, the classical type bowed strings usually have the nylon strings and are made of cedar. Yamaha, Alvarez and Gibson are among some to the best acoustic electric brands. These brands have twelve strings and are very popular for the tops that are made of solid maple or spruce on the back and on the sides.
