The use of juice extractors has gained popularity in many parts of the world. This is a device used to extract juice from wheatgrass, vegetables and fruits. This process is known as juicing. The device separates juices from the pulp of such fruits and vegetables. Upon extraction, the pulp is normally discarded. However, pulp can also be used to make breads or muffins.

Juice extractors are of different types including manual and electric. Using the manual ones requires more effort than using the electric ones. Manual juicers include inverted cones, hand-operated grinders and barrel-shaped presses. Fruit is usually twisted on these devices to extract the juices. Both electric and manual juicers are sold at different prices depending on the manufacturer, features and size.

Among the popular electric juicers are the centrifugal type. This type has a flat blade which cuts up the vegetables and fruits. After cutting them up it spins them at a very high speed and this process separates the juices from pulp. This separation is further enhanced by a sieve in the juicer.

There are also the masticating juicers that convert fruits to pulp before they squeeze out the juices. They have a profiled screw type of moulding which crushes and compacts vegetables and fruits against some static screen. This allows juices to flow via the screen. A separate outlet on the device expels the pulp.

The other are the triturating juicers which have twin, rotating gears. These twin gears are used to crush the fruits first before pressing out the juices. This type can also be used to extract juices from wheatgrass. The juices flow through a gap between the two gears. The larger pulp matter is discharged as it passes along the top of the gears.

Those who extract juices using these devices derive a lot of benefits. Vegetables and fruits have plenty of nutritional properties beneficial to the body. Juices extracted using these devices contain concentrated amounts of antioxidants and phytochemicals, vitamins and living enzymes. These substances can fight ailments and also reducing pain and inflammation in the body.

Juice extractors are used in homes to extract juices from various fruits and vegetables. They are also used for commercial juicing to make mainly fruit juices for sale in supermarkets and shops. They help to bring out the true taste and flavor of fruits and vegetables. Juices thus extracted are nutritious and of great benefit to the body.
