On the other hand if the backboard is shaped like a fan or a semicircle, then many of the shots are rendered ineffective.

Also, just like the backboard, the shape of the pole should be square instead of round because it would ensure that there is an improvement in rebounds and decrease in vibration. A unit with a superior adjustment system is also not that necessary because most of the time, people just set these systems to a particular height and leave them as they are for as long as they are using it.
