In this article I'd like to discuss about donut types from several countries.

A donut or bagel is a treat made from fried dough and is very popular in many countries and was prepared in several forms as a sweet (or occasionally salty) snack that can be homemade or purchased in bakeries, supermarkets, food stalls and outlets franchised specialty. They are usually sweet, fried flour mass, and ring-shaped or flattened spheres that sometimes contain fillings. Other donut types are made with veggies on it such as potatoes can also be used, as well as sugar, and various toppings and flavorings are used to provide distinctive flavors on each donut type.

The two most common donut types are the donut-ring and filled donut, a flattened sphere filled with jam (or jelly), cream, custard or sweet fillings. Baked Donuts are a variation of treat that were cooked in an oven rather than on a fryer. There are many donut types which you can find from other countries but not all donuts are sweet: in Southern India, for example, this savory treat is called vadai donut and is served with lentils.

There are many other specialized forms such as the old fashioned donut, bars or Long Johns (a rectangular shape), or the twisted kind. In the Northeastern U.S., the bars and twists are usually referred to as churros. There are also those known brand names, like Munchkins from Dunkin 'Donuts and Tim Hortons Timbits'. There are also fritters, which are square donuts covered with powdered sugar.

In South Africa, a variation known as the koeksuster is popular. Another variation is the vetkoek, which is also the deep fried in oil and served with minced meat, syrup, honey or jam. In Tunisia, a one similar to the donuts are called Yo-Yo. They are very traditional and popular. They come in different versions. In India, a tasty, fried, ring-shaped snack called vada is often referred to as a donut. The vada is made from dal, lentils or potatoes instead of wheat flour. In northern India, there is a donut type called dahi-bada, and typically soaked in yogurt, sprinkled with spices and topped with a sweet and sour sauce.

In South India this treat is typically consume with sambar, coconut chutney. Indonesia has their own treat called kentang Donat or potato donut. It has a ring-shaped fritter made from flour and mashed potatoes covered with powdered sugar. The Persians have the bamiyeh zoolbia. These are donuts that come in various forms and sizes, and covered with a syrup made from sugar and water. Donuts are also made at those homes in Iran, and similar with hotcakes. Local varieties of donuts are sold by street vendors from Peru. Local varieties are generally made from plain dough fried in refined coconut oil and sprinkle with fine (no powder or confectioner's)sugar.

These are just some of the donut types from other countries that will certainly satisfy one's hunger and sweet tooth cravings!
