Success comes to those with great drive. You are going to be running your own business. Just because you will be marketing the products of a parent company doesn't mean that you are "working for someone else" as you may be used to doing. If you have been involved in commission sales jobs then you have a good understanding of what it means to be driven and to work for yourself while going through another company. You will have to set your goals high and be driven to work toward them relentlessly or you will never succeed in network marketing.
Next, success in network marketing requires great discipline. You must keep in mind at all times that you are going to be totally responsible for your success, because you are going to be making all of the decisions. You cannot sit around waiting for your boss to give you something to do--because, you are the boss. Being your own boss gives your great freedom, but with great freedom comes great responsibility. It will be all too easy for you to make excuses as to why you don't feel like doing any work today. You may think that you'll have enough money coming so that you can rest on your laurels while your downline does all of the work for you now. But what happens when the downline doesn't produce like you thought it would? What happens when people leave? Besides, you need to keep acting as a mentor and coach to those that you recruit. If you don't keep on growing your business, it will actually shrivel up and die.
The downline, in fact, needs to be recruited and treated very carefully. You see, you will need to understand going in that 90% of the people whom you recruit aren't going to last in your business for very long, and that means that they aren't going to do much. You need to let them go like the dead wood that they are, and focus on your productive 10%. Those are the people you want under you, because they are the ones who are making sales, and that means they are also the ones recruiting other high quality members.
As you recruit and train new members, monitor them for a while. If they don't start producing pretty soon after you recruit them, then just quietly draw yourself away from them and leave them to their fate. If you don't do that, you'll just find yourself spread too thin and not getting the production, the income, that you want for yourself.
Hand in hand with drive and discipline goes patience. No matter how quickly you start having success, you won't be able to build your business overnight. In fact it might be a good full year before you really start seeing the kind of success that you want--assuming of course that you are being disciplined, driven, and persistent. So, don't give up. You might have to work your network marketing business strictly part-time during nights and weekends for a while before you can fire your boss and become your own. Manage your activity and your results will come in time.
Finally, however, comes something that you'll actually have to do before you can begin with any of the things mentioned above. You'll have to choose a good network marketing business to join. And that means you want to choose one that is easy to duplicate. You have to have duplication for your network marketing business to work. You want your recruits to be able to quickly and easily grasp the business that you teach them so that they can open up their own businesses without hassle--and make you more money . The more complicated the business model, the fewer people who will be able to successfully duplicate it--and the fewer who will even want to sign on to try.
So, join a network marketing opportunity that you can easily learn and teach others to duplicate. Then, have discipline, have patience, and have drive. Do these things and network marketing success are yours.
