Do you drive? If yes, you need to know some key statistics. According to National Sleep Foundation (NSF), about 71% of American adults drive cars and most of them are drowsy drivers. About 100 million people say they have driven a vehicle while feeling drowsy, and 32 million people have actually fallen asleep at the wheel. Approximately 2 million people have admitted that they have had an accident because they dozed off.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conservatively estimates that there are 100,000 sleep related crashes a year. This act results in an estimated 1,550 deaths, 71,000 injuries, and $12.5 billion in monetary losses in United States. These figures are considered the tip of the iceberg, as currently it is difficult to attribute crashes to drowsy drivers.

Who is at risk?

1. Sleep related crashes are common in young people especially men, adults with children and people who work in shifts.

2. According to AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, people sleeping 6-7 hours a night are at higher risk than those who sleep 8 hours a day.

3. Men are twice more likely to fall asleep than women (22% vs. 12%) and are more likely than women to drive in a drowsy state (56 vs. 45%).

4. Adults from 18-29 years have a higher risk compared to other age groups.

5. Adults with children in the household are more likely to fall asleep than adults without children (59% vs. 45%).

6. People tend to fall asleep while driving at high-speed, extended periods, and on boring rural highways. However, people who reside in urban areas are more likely to doze off driving than people living in rural areas (24% vs. 17%).

Sleep related or drowsy driving crashes can result in high personal and economic costs. Many drowsy drivers cases have resulted in jail sentence for the drowsy drivers. When lawsuits are filed against individuals and employees who were involved in such crashes, multimillion dollar settlements have been awarded to the victims due to crash.

Any drowsy drivers can be at a high risk of having a crash. Be smart and protect yourself and the agony of your family members by using a Driver Alert Nap Alarm. This warning device helps prevent fatigue related automobile accidents. If you start to nod off while you are driving and your head falls forward, the Driver Alert Nap Alarm will sound an alert to wake you up before disaster strikes. This lightweight device fits behind your ear comfortably, even if you wear glasses.

Driver Alert Nap Alarm is very easy to use. Your sixth sense would gear you up immediately once the alarm gives an alert. The alarm is very sensitive and would alert you immediately even if you nod off while driving.

The striking feature is the cost. For a measly cost, you protect your life and the lives of your family members who are travelling with you. Gift your family and yourself an insurance of life from unforeseen death or injury by using Driver Alert Nap Alarm.
