I started this piece on Rudy Giuliani's stance on abortion and I think I shall end it on abortion.

There comes a time in a person's life when you have to start thinking for yourself rather than be a lemming to politics, a political party, politicians, pundits, predators and a phony press.

I have Ann Coulter to thank for pointing out that pro-choice proponents never use the word "abortion" when talking about the "a" word. I had never really thought about this before reading Coulter's book Godless: The Church of Liberalism. Now I pay attention and realize that she is dead right.

Instead, says Coulter, we get a slew of liberal euphemisms for baby-killing, including but not limited to:

"reproductive freedom"

"a woman's right to control her own body"

"terminating a pregnancy"

"freedom of choice"

"a woman's own private medical decision"

"a procedure"

"access to health care"

"family planning"

"our bodies, our selves"

and, of course, "choice."

Coulter points out that the only other practice that was both defended and unspeakable in America was slavery. "There are three indirect references to slavery in the Constitution," says Coulter, "but the words slave and slavery never appear." I did not know that either.

One might say that our liberal culture, practices and laws have brought liberals to this point in yipping and yapping about the war in Iraq: they find 3,000+ American military deaths in Iraq unconscionable in eliminating a brutal dictator who sympathizes with our terrorist enemies, but 1.3 million abortions in America every year is something to celebrate.

Crimes against children in America are no big deal to liberal woman who need their rights protected. Crimes against a brutal dictator in Iraq is unconscionable because, well, he is a brutal dictator, favors and supports terrorists, and has a right to indiscriminately kill his own people because it is his right as a dictator and it is his country. My rights, get it?

The right of a woman to have unprotected sex in America is fundamental to protecting her right to abort the mistake if impregnated. Who said children have rights? It is even less so for unborn children. Not even God can keep us from killing our own.

It is really all about us, what does God have to do with it?

We are all about rights, and little about responsibilities. Too many of us have become self-centered, self-absorbed rights takers rather than rights observers. Rights crushed responsibilities a long time ago, and now we remain content to kill our unborn.

We are a nation divided when it comes to the "a" word. We have our U. S. Supreme Court to thank for the appallingly crafted Roe v. Wade decision. This controversial issue may never be settled.

At least I learn something when I read or listen to Krauthammer, Coulter or Morris.

I learn virtually nothing when I read or listen to presidential candidates from either party drone on about their self-proclaimed wonderfulness, and this includes Bush and his Republican lackeys, and all of the liberal, secular progressives and their lemmings on the other side of the fence.
