The hunt is on - it's time to start looking for cheap stocking fillers for the kids' Christmas stockings. When cash is short, Christmas shopping can add to your stress. But, if you get yourself organized, you can get the right Christmas gifts at prices that won't break the bank.
The first thing to do is to make a list and keep it with you. Having a list will immediately make you feel more in control. Buying stocking fillers is just one Christmas task of many you will need to perform. Trying to keep all the holiday preparations in your head will mean you are constantly running your list through your mind. This is not exactly relaxing, so write it all down, and give your brain a rest.
Don't forget to tick things off as you go. When you have finished a task, cross it of your to do list. When you have bought a gift, jot a note of it next to the recipient's name. This way you won't buy two presents for the same person, and leave someone out. A note of the gifts will also help you to figure out how much wrapping paper you will need and whether any special packaging will be required for fragile items.
The vital thing you must do is to work out your budget and make sure you don't exceed it. The cost of inexpensive stocking fillers can soon mount up if you buy many of them. Of course, the shops will be full of tempting merchandise. But, if you give in, you will spend Christmas worrying about the debts you will have to pay in the coming weeks. Keeping strictly to your list and your budget will get you past extravagant impulses.
Cheap stocking fillers can be picked up very easily. However, cheap goods are often flimsy goods. Don't let yourself be persuaded to buy inferior rubbish that will break before the end of the holiday season. If you see copies of the current hot toys in a market, avoid them. Fakes are never anything like equal in quality. When you can get such good deals online, it is far better to hold out for the genuine article.
The internet has made it very easy for us to research prices before we head out to the shops and markets to select Christmas gifts. In many cases, Internet prices will beat any offers you will find elsewhere. But make sure you don't overlook the postage and handling costs. When you are buying small inexpensive items for Christmas stockings, the postage costs might end up being more than the price of the gift.
Don't let yourself be persuaded to overspend because you want to give your kids everything they want for Christmas. One plan that works well is to limit the purchasing of this year's hot toys and add some traditional toys and games. When the stockings are unpacked, the fads for this year will give rise to much excitement. But the old favorites can be relied upon to carry on giving pleasure long after the hot toys have cooled down.
Are you stuck for ideas for cheap stocking fillers? Here is a list of a few time-tested favorite Christmas stocking fillers that won't break the bank and can be relied on to keep kids happy through the holiday and beyond.
