How do you surf the web? Have you ever thought about the web surfing benefits for marketers?

Many of us search to find what we want, click on some websites, read what's available and move on to the next. That's not necessarily a bad thing because it's efficient, right? This habit somehow makes us learn to tune out things we don't need and go straight to what's essential. Needless to say, our way of surfing is always goal-oriented.

So today, I'd like to share with you some things I've taken note of while I surf the web:

1. Content.

You know those specific lines from web copies, emails or newsletters that really get your attention? I take note of them. It's great to read catchy headlines, opening phrases and excellent closing lines. I take inspiration from impressive content, and keep notes on my favorites! It's fun, you should try it!

2. Web design.

When I'm not ogling the content, I would focus on include the overall design of the page, font type, site navigation, placement of ads, widgets, custom site features or plugins among many other things. Like content, I would also take note of the colors and the layout - and why they have such a great visual appeal.

3. Graphics/images.

Here's what I do whenever I see a particular ad banner or button I like: I bookmark the page and make a note of it, or download it and save it in one of my folders. You may not have the rights to use such banner or button, but you can use it for inspiration to create something similar to it.

4. Sales pages.

I'm interested in how people sell. So what do I do? I spend a lot of time looking at sales pages to study what words or images they use and how they arrange everything to make that pitch. Getting to read and study these sales pages is one of the best web surfing benefits for marketers. Just like graphics and images, I also bookmark it and make a note to refer to it when the need arises.

5. Possible partners and mentors.

I'm sure many of you also do this. Whenever I come across a new marketer, or business owner who has a product, site or service aligned with my interests, I usually keep their contact details. The goal here is obvious: to extend your sphere of influence by leveraging an influential person's reach.

6. Interesting bits of information.

Any interesting piece of information we come across can always be bookmarked as an idea for a blog post, shared on Facebook or Twitter, or included in your email list. All the information we consume while surfing the web has multiple purposes, so use them to your advantage!

These web surfing benefits for marketers are just reminders of the things that any website or blog owner should focus on. How about you? How does web surfing benefit you as a marketer? What are the things you take note of everytime you surf the web?
