When people think about getting a six pack, I think that they focus on finding the best abs exercises and workout routines. Whilst forgetting all about the diet they must eat if they are ever going to build abdominal muscle. If you want to get a great stomach, then you must design a diet plan which fits your bodyweight before you even think about hitting the gym.
So lets take a quick look at what goes into the best six pack abs diet. First off your going to need carbohydrate. Many people will argue with me about that and tell me that you need as little carbs as possible. But I can tell you right now that if you want your body to function on top form then you'll need to be eating carbohydrate.
You see, without carbs your bodies energy levels will start to crash and when this happens you will actually decease in muscle not gain it. Because your body will have no energy to build new muscle tissue.
To find out how much carbohydrate you should consume, you need to divide your bodyweight in half and this is how much you should eat in grams. Aim to eat your carb allowance before and after a workout as this is when your body will need it most.
The next thing you need to get six pack abs is protein. This can be found in meat like Beef, Pork and fish. It's critical that you get enough because these are literally the building blocks for your body. So without them you won't be able to build even a pound of muscle because your body won't have the raw materials to make the tissue.
Of course your diet right now will contain some protein, but you should try to be eating about 1.5 grams per pound of your bodyweight for best results. In addition to this you should consume 20 grams of protein in your pre-workout meal and another 20 grams in your post-workout meal.
For this diet you will still need to get your fats. Without fat many of your body functions will start to slow down there-by decreasing the rate that you body builds muscle. Multiply your bodyweight by 0.2 and this is how much fat you need in grams.
I see so many people trying to get six pack abs by doing crunches, leg raises, sit ups and lots more abdominal exercises but they still get know where. They don't realize that doing these types of workouts won't reduce the belly fat thats covering their abs! All they need to do is to eat less calories and stick to a diet plan similar to this one whilst doing some cardio and they'd get rid of their bodyfat in no time.
So with calories, try and only eat 10 for every pound of your bodyweight. Of course you'll realize that this is significantly less than you would normally eat, but as soon as this abs diet starts to kick in you'll be thanking me for it.
Okay so now that you have the basics that you need to create your unique abs eating plan - get started. Some foods that you might want to include are: lentils, beef, pork, egg whites and quinoa. Those are some personal favourites of mine that I've had some good success with in the past.
