I'd like to keep on with my own personal and offer you some inspiration if your goal is to lose a few pounds. I've gotten over my caper catfish fishing and I'm back on track with not eating everything that comes into sight.

I'm telling you my story for a few reasons. One is to put some pressure on myself to get to the 190 lb mark. If I tell you guys all I know that it has to get done. The other is to offer you a little inspiration and to remind you that your physical fitness and your success in achieving your goals have a lot to do with how you see yourself.

What exactly do I mean when I say get the picture in your head right? Let me give you an example from my quest for 190. Getting to 190 pounds is not really all that difficult. The challenge comes in what you tell yourself and in what you accept as ok. It also comes in controlling urges and amounts of food that you eat. In my particular situation I haven't taken getting to 190 as seriously as I would like, because I have associated no urgency with the goal and believe that I'm taking pretty good care of myself because of my exercise routine and the foods that I eat.

Until I decide to convince myself that I'll be healthier at 190 pounds and do not need the extra weight, I will not lose the weight. As long as I'm o.k. with myself at 200 plus, there is no need to change. So what is the secret? It's to picture myself at 190 and convince myself that 190 is a much better deal for me. Besides that, it's important to have a goal and to get after it. It's time to get serious.

I've got many other goals that I continue to work on. What are some of your goals? How serious are you about achieving them? What are you willing to do to make it happen? It is said that the human being is a success seeking mechanism. Without goals and consistent movement in a positive direction, we can not hope to become the person that we are capable of becoming. Read more about the success mechanism in Doctor Maxwell Maltz's best selling book Psycho-cybernetics. It's a great read on the power of the self image and how to get it going in the right direction.

Good luck with your goals,

Fred Nicklaus
