You Would Make More Money If You Really Had To!

Especially in these times of economic change, everywhere you turn there are people worrying about how much money they make, or how much money they have. Yet if you asked any of those people why they are not making more money - among all the reasons they give, none of them would point the finger at themselves - yet we all have the ability to make as much money as we want.

One hundred years ago, after two years on the drawing board, Henry Ford released the Model T. This was a landmark automobile, because it was the first time that a car was made generally available at a price that everyone could afford. For the first time, for just $825, anyone could have a car in their driveway. Fast forward that to the present day - just how many cars do you have on the driveway? For most people - two cars is a family basic, and many have 3 or more vehicles of different types in their household - probably averaging more like $10,000 - $20,000 each when new.

So what has changed? How did we get from $825 being just affordable for one car to now upwards of $20,000 being spent on vehicles? You might think it has something to do with inflation, or simply that times are different now - or I'm sure that the financial wizards would have an incredibly involved explanation involving national production, international exchange rates and the strength of the dollar. But the real reason is much, much simpler than that - almost too simple to digest at first...

We have more now because that is what we expect to have.

Quite apart from the automobile - a hundred years ago, electric light was unusual, central heating meant a big fire in the main room of the house and watching TV just did not exist. But if I suggested to you that coming home from work to a nice warm house, turning on the lights and watching your favourite show was a luxury, you would think me crazy. But again - the only difference is in what we expect to have in our lives. As China becomes more and more exposed to the Western way of life, it's people are changing a way of life that they were completely accepting of just a few years ago. No longer are they happy to live rural lives - now they want the cars and the TVs and the clothes that they are seeing these Western strangers have. And because they expect to have those things, they are getting those things.

So, take a look at how much money you made last month - write it down on a piece of paper. No matter what the amount was, add a zero to the end. So if it was $2,000 - make that number $20,000 - how would that change your month? Would you be able to pay off a few credit card bills then? Sure it would make a huge difference - but what really is the difference? All we did was draw a little circle on your piece of paper - but now, instead of getting by, you are getting wealthy.

You might think that there is a world of difference between writing an extra zero on a piece of paper and actually creating that income - but there really isn't. This is the whole reason that most people don't make $20,000 per month - they simply don't have to! But come back in another 100 years or so and $20,000 per month will be the new norm - so everyone will be doing it. 100 years ago, no-one had a TV - now everyone has at least one and many families have more than one TV set each - not to mention the computers and laptops!

The really exciting part about all this is that you can change how much money you make as easily as you just drew that little circle on your piece of paper. Simply start to focus on that kind of income, start making decisions that move you towards it each and every day - and expect to see that income in your life. Just as surely as you have your current income because that is what you expected, you will see your new income manifested in your life. Enjoy!
