Sounds, gestures, pictures and words have been for a good while now the means of passing along feelings and ideas from one person, people or a generation to another. Today, the internet is a miracle of speed and convenience is at the service of public speaking.

The people of the world have been drawn into almost instant contact for good or ill in war or peace. Once all that lay beyond the average man's neighborhood or the belief limits of his travel was unknown to him.

Today, modern means of public speaking have made neighbors of all mankind by the internet. The human voice can be sent around the world by the internet faster than it can be shouted from one end of a football field to the other.

Science and the internet have made it possible for everyone to have immediate news of what is going on in the world, fires, earthquakes, floods, war, races, soccer, concerts or the birth of a new set of quintuplets.

Modern speed of public speaking is not like it once was. Now creating history, allowing women and men to live in imagination throughout history. In books, magazines, art, sculpture, newspapers, the internet, television, music, architecture, motion pictures, radio, television, they have the keys to the world's store of knowledge past and present.

What we owe to publish speaking, communication and transportation "Flight 34 calling San Francisco!" "Flight 12 calling Washington!" Such radio messages flash back and forth between jets and landing fields. At railroad stations may be heard the tapping of the key of a flight controller's room, telling whether airlines are on or off schedule!

The internet warns ships of approaching storms or of the presence of icebergs. Speedy modern transportation depends on swift communication that keeps trains, airlines and ships on schedule and brings help in case of a danger or a disaster.

The United States Weather Bureau in Washington, D.C., receives facts on temperature, wind, rain, and other weather information every hour. These facts come from all parts of the world. Men record the information on maps which when assembled and analyzed make possible the forecasting of the weather as long as five days in advance. Weather news goes out to newspapers and radio stations hour by hour. Farmers in California or Florida hear warnings of approaching cold waves. Those in the Middle West or mountain states rush to protect their cattle when blizzard warning are given!
