Can you take a hint? When it comes to determining whether you need to lose weight or not many people ignore the obvious signs around them.

In this article we will look at a few hints you might want to take when it comes to losing weight.

1. Are you obese? Obesity is defined as being more than 20% over your ideal body weight. To determine your ideal body weight you must look at factors such as your height, sex, age, and your build.

If this is too much for you to try and figure out then consider whether you are more than 30 or 40 pounds over your ideal body weight. If you are you are defined as obese.

Your body is giving you a sign you need to lose weight. Often times this comes in the form of health problems. Obesity and poor health definitely go hand in hand.

2. Do your clothes fit? When people began to have even small weight gains clothes begin to stop fitting. It's expensive to constantly have to upgrade your wardrobe so you may want to consider using this as an incentive to lose weight.

You know when you clothes no longer fit. If you rationalize that they are no longer in fashion, when in reality they no longer fit, this is a hint you need to lose weight.

3. Are you out of breathe when you walk a flight of stairs? Do you find yourself having to stop and catch your breath on a long walk from a parking lot to a shopping mall?

Your body is giving you signs that you are not only out of shape, but you are probably overweight. You will be surprised at how much more fun daily activities are when you can do them without straining yourself.

4. Are your friends or physician being mean to you? If your best friend is telling you that you are overweight that is more than a sign. It is probably a recommendation that you need to drop a few pounds.

If your physician is telling you that you are overweight he is trying to prepare you for potential health problems. You certainly need to begin losing weight when he is the one telling you to do so.

These are all hints that you need to lose weight. Obesity is unsightly and health problems are enough to make you want to drop pounds. If your clothes no longer fit how much of a hint do you really need.

The same thing is true when you can not do normal daily activities without being out of breath. Of course if your friend or physician is telling you are overweight they are giving you a very direct hint you need to lose weight.
