The Dr. Phillips area is a suburb of Orlando located in the southwest quadrant of town. It's located next to and/or near the areas of Windermere and Metrowest and also very close to the attractions area of Universal Studios, the Orange County Convention Center, and International Drive. Dr. Phillips was originally founded by Dr. Phillip Phillips, a citrus magnate of Central Florida. He owned thousands of acres of orange groves and was responsible for several important innovations in orange juice processing and packaging.

The Dr. Phillips area is best known today, not for its orange groves, but for its luxurious homes and estates, outstanding schools and trendy Restaurant Row including such venues as Mortons, Bonefish Grill, Amura, Season's 52, Samba Room, and Timpano's among many others. Some of the affluent neighborhoods in the area include Bay Hill and Orange Tree Golf & Country Clubs, Phillips Landing, Turtle Creek, Brentwood Club, Bristol Park, Vizcaya, Reserve at Cypress Point, and Bay Vista Estates.

The Bay Hill Club and Lodge is located within the Bay Hill community of Dr. Phillips and is one of the best known courses locally, being home to Arnold Palmer. It's a private club with amenities such as a 70-room lodge, spa, salon, fitness center, pool, and tennis courts, in addition to the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy and some of the best golfing around... The Bay Hill course is a site on the PGA tour.

Dr. Phillips is also home to Turkey Lake Park, a 300-acre beautifully landscaped oasis offering picnicking, hiking along seven miles of nature trails, biking along a three-mile bike path, along with a number of other fun things. The picnic areas of located close to the lakeshore area with shaded tables and pavilions. There's also play areas for the kids and sandy beaches but unfortunately no lake swimming. There is however a large pool overlooking the lake and a fishing pier. Boats can also be rented for lake fishing. Across from the park is a huge wood and tire kiddie wonderland-style playground and an old pioneer cracker-style Florida farm featuring an authentic 100 year-old barn. Camping is also available with cabins, sites for trailers and RVs plus additional picnic areas and barbecue pits.

There are currently 187 single-family homes for sale in the Dr. Phillips area with prices ranging from as low as $32,900 for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home up to as high as $10,900,000 for a 7 bedroom, 10 bath home. The median price is $379,000 for a 4 bedroom, 3 bath property.
