As the super-highways of information that travel through cyberspace twist and turn and find their way into our computers and TVs, we find ourselves turning more and more to them in search of anything, from a recipe for sugar cookies to cryonics. So why not dating online?
On that note, we turn to the internet to find the Top Ten Online Dating sites. Since the number or percentage of singles in the world is not of general knowledge, but we know that it runs into the millions, we also refer to research sites which do most of the leg work for us. There we find a great many articles with information mostly geared to what women should or not do when looking for a friend, pen-pal, someone to play, or a significant other.
I wanted to make this article different. I wanted to inform the men who are serious about finding that special person to complement their lives, notice I did not say a person who will make them happy, only you are responsible for your happiness, about some of the do's and dont's when preparing to approach a lady you saw and liked when you searched the Top Ten Online Dating sites. I believe that every little bit helps.
Practically every relationship is based on a first impression, usually one you perceive when viewing a photo. In this case, yours.
Here's a list of suggestions that I hope you will find useful.
When placing your photo on any of the dating sites, avoid the following pitfalls:
Do not take a picture without a shirt; Do not take a photo looking un-kept or with your beat up hat; Do not take a photo with your shades on. Women want to see your eyes; Do take a photo if possible, with a suit, or a regular shirt, no writing of any kind on it; Try hard not to lie regarding your age, or your looks, if you meet her, she will realize that you were not truthful; Do place a recent photo, smile. Now we proceed to the meeting personally part.
After exchanging a few likes and dislikes, given each other the number to your cell phone, and agreed to meet somewhere public, the following will apply: Do dress appropriately for that first meeting. Look neat, clean, no chewing gum with your mouth open, that does not impress a woman. Whether that first meeting is long or short, depending on the chemistry, talk. Make eye contact, ask questions. Listen.
Please, do not talk about your ex, that only suggests that you are either bitter or still hung up on her. Your date is not your psychologist; do not bring your professional or personal problems to the table. You've heard the saying, laugh and the world laughs with you; cry and you cry alone. Drink with caution, you may send the wrong message if you over do it. Give your date your full attention, a wandering eye is offensive to the person you are with. Act interested in what she is saying; keep it light.
And last but not least, if the chemistry is not there, do not prolong the date, be polite and be honest. It's been nice meeting you, but I don't believe there is enough chemistry between us to warrant another meeting. Good luck in your search, or something else along those lines!
