As a top level business coach, I have several tools and strategies for identifying how long it will take someone to be successful in their business. By successful, I mean attaining a certain level of profitability, along with having business systems that help support continued growth, and feeling a sense of purpose and satisfaction within their business.

It's crucial that all of these elements be in place- profitability, systems, and satisfaction. Of course, you can build a business missing any one or two of these, but the business foundation will never be as strong as it could be if all three of these elements were in place.

For example, if you have a business that isn't profitable, you probably won't feel very satisfied with it. If you have a business that you enjoy, but your systems aren't up to par, you won't enjoy building it for long.

While I have several methods for predicting business success or failure, there is one quality that almost predicts business success 100% of the time. And that quality is measured in how close you are to the action- or, stated another way, how much business momentum you have going for you.

The people who are closest to the source of the action in their chosen field or industry are the ones who get all the "lucky breaks" or "golden opportunities" and who seem to build their businesses easily and quickly.

When you ally yourself with people who are rapid action takers and who make things happen, some of this can't help but rub off on you and your business. You gain access to greater insight and relevant information, as well as making alliances and contacts to help propel your business further and faster.

One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is trying to go it alone. They try to learn everything, know everything, and do everything- which, as you probably have realized means that very little actually gets accomplished each day. Contrast this to an entrepreneur who allies with five other entrepreneurs, and they trade ideas, resources, and suggestions designed to help all of them.

Who will go further faster? So take a look at yourself and your business. How close are you to the action in your industry? If you're not close enough, you need to get closer. When you surround yourself with people who are making things happen, you will naturally play a bigger game yourself- leading to greater profitability, more opportunities, and a business that seems to grow like magic.
