There are many team activities that managers can get their team to take part in when they are trying build team morale. What you choose to do and what you want to achieve is up to you but here are a few suggestions to get you started.
A Trip To The Cinema
A trip to the cinema can be a relatively cheap way to entertain the troops and prop up morale. Also, if it's a decent film or a comedy with catchphrases then your team could develop its own phrases and language with which to banter in the forthcoming months. If they have this banter then they'll work more closely together, enjoy working more and work better - in theory, at least.
A Hot Air Balloon Flight
Getting your team together in a tight space for a few hours while they don't have to discuss work can strengthen friendships and allow people to bond. Also, with hot air balloons there is plenty to look at and many stimulants for conversation as the ground around where you work unfolds beneath you. Of course, members of staff can point out where they live to land other and talk about local landmarks that they observe. All in all it can be a great day out.
Go To The Pub
When all else fails go to the pub. Often staff members can feel that they have to go and don't particularly enjoy the experience as they have to loosen up, however, if you lay on a few drinks for them it is bound to help them to relax and chat more freely to each other, thus building team spirit. Furthermore, if it turns into a big night then they'll all have shared moments over which to reminisce when everyone's back in the office. It's probably best not to do this when everyone has to be in work the next day, however, as this can result in many people not being up to the job!
Charity Work
The great thing about doing charity work is that people get to spend some time doing something they wouldn't normally while in the company of work colleagues. If someone's particularly bad at something they won't be too upset about it and can have a laugh. Of course, one of the best benefits is that it's all for a good cause.
There are plenty of different things you can do with your team - what will you choose to do with your staff next time?
