When you are setting up your conference centre, it is vital that your chairs are suitable for the delegates. There is nothing worse than arriving to find that the chairs provided are badly designed and uncomfortable or worse, in a state of dilapidation.

Delegates will end up with backache and won't want to sit on the chairs, so will be restless, fidgety and leave the room for lots of breaks, so will therefore miss portions of the conference.

Obviously as we are all different shapes and sizes it will be impossible to please everyone, but if you can satisfy the majority of delegates, that is a job well done.

When choosing your conference chairs, there are several options available to you. You should be able to choose a chair with an adjustable back, so that the height and angle can be changed to suit the individual. This would give your delegates a more comfortable chair for the duration of the conference. Another option could be to choose two or three different styles of chair which look similar and can be made to complement each other, that way there is a choice of chair depending on the height and size of the delegate.

At any rate, the chairs should be ergonomically designed so that they give good lumbar support and they should also have sturdy arm rests. Some chairs will have a swivel and wheels, whilst others will be static. Which you choose depends upon several things including what surface your floor is. Make sure the chairs are well padded for extra comfort and that they conform to your country's safety laws.

Take your time when choosing chairs, try and choose colours which match or complement your décor and choose styles which are practical. This is a big investment you are making and you need to get it right first time. Most quality conference chairs have at least a 10 year guarantee, so this is the sort of time frame you are looking at for the chairs to last. Do test them out, sit in as many as you can and get other members of your staff to do the same, that way you will get a good idea as to which chairs will best meet your needs and those of your customers. The chairs should be well built and look substantial, plus the coverings should conform to current fire laws.

The comfort of delegates should be foremost in your mind when choosing conference chairs and don't forget that a successful conference leads to further business. This should be something that you bear in mind as there is no point in having a conference centre which is empty for a large proportion of the time. Repeat business and business through word of mouth is the best advertising you can have, so if you make sure your conference centre is THE place to hold a conference you are sure to have plenty of business. Begin with pleasant surroundings and comfortable chairs and build from there.
