The hardest part of losing weight is knowing where to start. Some people to need to lose weight for medical reasons and therefore may need to lose quite a lot of weight. Others may just want to lose a little weight for that summer holiday in a bikini, or a special event.
It makes no difference how much weight you want to lose, it always comes down to "How to Start". This article will give you the tips you need to help you successfully lose that unwanted weight, look better and feel great!
Firstly you need to set yourself some realistic goals that suit you. Goals will set you on your pathway to weight loss with clearly defined steps and milestones. You can't get to where you want to go if you dont know where you are going!
So... you need to decide how much weight you want to lose and how soon you want to reach your final goal. If you want to lose a little weight, you can give yourself a fairly short term time frame. If you want to lose a lot of weight your long term goal will take more time to achieve...
Makes sense doesn't it?
Now decide on a realistic goal and aim to lose up to 2 pounds a week. This is achievable for most people, and safe too. We all know that " Crash Dieting " never works for ANYONE! The weight will always come back if not done properly and safely.
So doing the mathematics... that means to lose a few pounds for that wedding coming up will only take a month or so, but to lose sixty or so will take a lot longer, up to seven months. But it is worth it to lose weight in a healthy way and keep that weight off.
Excercise plays its part also, but that is another article coming up soon... look out for that, it really does work!
Back to the goal setting - after deciding on how much weight you want to lose and working out a realistic time frame to do so... break the goal down into smaller steps.
If you have worked out that you need to achieve your ideal weight loss by the end of six months ( using the 2 pound a week rule ), you need to break that long term goal down, that way as you tick off your smaller steps your confidence will soar.
The system works the same if you want to shed a just few pounds for the Christmas party, or a wedding coming up. Set your main goal and break it down into small achievable steps.
The worst thing people often do is set goals that are not suitable, they just end up disappointed and deflated... and they give up! But not you! Following these simple weight loss tips, you will make it.
Now remind yourself of your goals...Write them down! It's a well known fact that people take much more information on board visually than any other way. So write your long term goal, and the small steps necessary down on paper.
This can be in your diary and on bookmarks etc. But the most effective method is to write it on post it notes and stick them everywhere you look all the time- Such as on the fridge door, in the car, on the bathroom mirror, even on the bathroom scales!
The important thing is that you have constant reminders of your goals and how well you are doing. This will really give you the confidence and encouragement to keep going.
It's the secret that makes all the difference to successfully losing that unwanted weight, and finding that slim and sexy you!
