Affiliate Marketing

This is one of the easiest business opportunities to set up and start earning an income. However, you must have the necessary knowledge and skills - particularly in marketing and advertising. You have no inventory, no overhead costs, and you don't even need a website. These skills are easy to learn and it can be a great way to go to get started online.

Blogging

This content driven practice has taken the internet by storm over the last few years as a means to communicate your particular message as well as a way to generate cash. It is not for everyone but if you are the type of person who enjoys writing, you have a passion about a particular subject (no matter how narrow it may seem to you), then this may be a worthwhile pursuit.

Writing Content for ezines, articles, ebooks and web pages

If you are a writer type but are not really interested in setting up a blog for your own informational output, then it may be you can make yourself available to write for others. The way this works is you get the information from the person seeking the writer (through elance or some other online marketing method), then you write to accomplish the purposes the buyer is seeking.

Editing Services

This is similar to writing but many people who are writing their own content simply need it edited and "cleaned up" so there is a huge demand for this service. It doesn't pay as much as writing the content but it is generally much simpler, quick and easy for someone with the skill and knack for doing it.

Selling on ebay or other online auctions

This has become one of the most popular online businesses. It is simple to get started, you have an open market where selling and advertising is not the issue it is with some other online businesses and if you have products that are either unique, timely or cheap you can move a lot of product through an online auction.

Business Consulting or Mentoring

Everyone knows something about something that they believe can be harnessed into a business service. Maybe it can and maybe it cannot. The issue in this kind of service business is A) what one knows, B) how one communicates and C) how to market.

Network Marketing and/or Direct Marketing

When marketing online this is really a type of affiliate marketing. There is a big difference between Direct Marketing (and all the forms of affiliate marketing) / Network Marketing and Multi-Level Marketing. In each case products and services are sold both online and offline. Understand the differences to determine if this may be a niche you want to consider.

One might think this is a non-existent business today since you can have a website up and running in a day at very little cost. And if that is all someone needs (for instance to act as a "capture or lead page") then setting it up for this purpose requires little design. But if you are considering marketing online via a website there is a lot to think about to turn it into a profitable piece of internet real estate.

Virtual Assistant

When building an online business there are hundreds of details to attend to on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and many of those who are working to build the business are not the type to handle details very well (I happen to be one of those). So, because any internet work can be done from the comfort of your home and you have the skills and desire to follow through then becoming a virtual assistant for someone might be an option worth considering.

This is one of the very biggest businesses on the internet. If you have a way of marketing that is effective then you have millions of potential customers. If you don't then just beware that selling to those who want to sell on the internet is big business because every internet business must market its products and services.
