A cancerous growth in the parathyroid gland is commonly known as parathyroid cancer. The main task of the parathyroid glands is to manage the calcium level in the human body. There are four of these glands and they are situated at the bottom of the neck. Since both men and women may be affected by this type of cancer, it is very important to know about its symptoms, causes and treatment, so that it may be detected in the early stages and be treated.

Parathyroid cancer is a very rare type of cancer that occurs in the parathyroid gland situated on the thyroid glands. These glands are found in sets of two situated on the top of the lobes of the thyroid gland. Parathyroid cancer is usually found in men and women above the age of 30.
