When first starting an internet affiliate marketing business, you're faced with a bit of a catch-22. In order to drive sales, you need a good list of potential customers, but you can't get that list until you already have some sales.

How do you get around that problem? You find the places that already have regular visitors and use them to help drive your online marketing success.

The advent of Web 2.0 technologies has had two main impacts: web users have a whole new way to find content, and there is a massive need for content to keep those users occupied. Content sites like Associated Content and eHow.com allow people to write articles on all sorts of topics and then post them for the entire world to see. You can use this to your advantage in an affiliate marketing campaign.

Let's say that you are trying to sell a product that teaches people about internet security and how they can protect their private information while surfing the web.

If you write a series of informative and engaging articles to be posted on those Web 2.0 sites, you can accomplish a few important things: first of all, the people who are reading that article are obviously concerned with web security, so your approach is highly targeted to potential customers; second, most of these sites will allow you to place an affiliate link either directly into the article or into a resource box associated with the article, helping you drive sales; and third, you can put in a link that asks people if they want to subscribe to your email list, which will deliver to them information targeted to the issue they care about.

The best part about this whole process is that it won't cost you a penny. In fact, some of these Web 2.0 sites implement an advertising split with their content producers, so a percentage of all ad revenue from your articles will be paid directly to you.

Using Web 2.0 sites in affiliate marketing allows you to generate various different revenue streams, and, because the content posted on these sites stays active for a very long time and indexes very well with Google, you can make money from your work for a long time.

The best way to work is to generate numerous revenue streams that keep paying off, and Web 2.0 sites, in conjunction with their great Google rankings, will help you accomplish this.
