With Prada selling out and the catwalks ablaze with them, flatforms are set to be the shoes we all want a pair of this spring. Combining style with comfort, flatforms and an extra je ne sais quoi to a flirty dress or spring skirt, and of course a little extra height! Combining 'flats' and 'platforms', the aptly named flatforms are brightening up this season's sandals and can be seen adding extra height to courts and pumps too.

Whilst some in the fashion world have hinted that flatforms are going to make the flat shoe redundant this season, do not be so sure! Androgynous brogues and loafers are going nowhere this spring and they are being freshened up with girly embellishments and flirty prints, there is no need to choose between style and comfort this spring when it comes to your shoes. The sturdier leather fabrics are being swapped for lighter ones such as raffia and Valentino have showed lace loafers.

Not to be forgotten though is the classic pump, heralding spring's coming everywhere, under a pair of skinny jeans or teamed with a summer dress these shoes are still a wardrobe staple. This spring they will continue to be seen in animal prints and pastel colours with bows and jewels adding something a little special and a little bit of glamour. They are also coming in mix-match patterns and with metal toe caps, updating this spring staple for 2012.

On the sportier side, once a choice of shoes that was limited to the gym or nipping to the corner shop, trainers are the most comfortable of spring shoe this season. They have been seen with chunky heels for a while but they have been updated for the Spring Season with wedges and platforms making them a style essential for the spring. They have been seen at Marc Jacobs with an 80s vibe and Y-3 Adidas has been keeping them sporty. They are also being seen in an array of colours, textures, prints and even embellished with jewels and studs. Platform trainers are a must this spring and as a multi-coloured high-top how could anyone resist?

And last, but by no means least, the wedge - transforming the highest heels into footwear for the every day. The wedge has seen its ups and downs in popularity but this spring it will become a wardrobe staple. Making heeled shoes comfortable enough to wear all day, every day without sacrificing anything for style. And for spring they're making their appearance in everything from floral prints, block colours, pastels and nudes to the more traditional blacks and browns. Court wedges are also being brightened up for spring 2012 with peep toes, and another popular choice this season will be wedged sandals with minimalist straps.
