The cooler temperatures of autumn present fashion lovers with an ideal season to display their love for vintage clothes. Whether your favourite vintage clothing items are from a second hand store or from your grandmother's closet, consider taking advantage of the colour scheme and temperatures of this transitional season to display your vintage style.

Instead of retiring your summer dresses once the cooler weather settles in, consider keeping any vintage items around for the fall months as well. In fact, since this season is associated with 'back to school' apparel often inspired by vintage academia pieces, vintage style dresses should feel right at home. Pleated skirts are typically the best option for anyone seeking to imitate a more 'school girl' look; however, vintage lace tea dresses can also be beautifully worn this season. Straight shift-style vintage dresses make wonderful work attire as well. Combine a set of comfortable tights and boots or Oxfords with any such vintage clothing dresses to maintain a fully autumnal appearance.

Additionally, autumn's colour palette calls for the incorporation of more rustic hues in an outfit. Burnt reds, mustard yellows, and all shades of brown perfectly compliment nature's colours for this season. For a bolder appearance, choose one of autumn's brighter colours (such as a red or gold) as the primary colour in your outfit. For a more subtle design, simply grab an item of one of these colours as an accessory; for example, a mustard yellow vintage scarf can be the perfect choice to bring a bit of seasonal design to an outfit of grey hues. Alternatively, navy blue is also the perfect choice for a classic colour for autumn; just a tad brighter than black, this shade of blue looks wonderful crafted into both suits and dresses alike.

Finally, finish off your outfit with vintage accessories such as brooches, feather headbands, vintage gloves, or an old fashion purse. Large, statement jewellery pieces are also stylish pieces of vintage accessories that can help pull together an entire outfit. However, if you're seeking a more classic appearance, then simply add a few pearl jewellery items (necklace, earrings, brooch, etc.). The details of any wardrobe are the items that help create your own signature style. For the fashionista who desires to create a self-image based on classic pieces, these little vintage accessories are the perfect option.

Overall, it is truly the little touches that can help intertwine a favourite season with timeless wardrobe items. Vintage clothes can easily take their place in any fall outfit, whether they are the main item (such as a dress) or a simply an accessory brooch. Lace dresses can be combined with a modern blazer or simple pearl earrings and a vintage purse can add the finishing touches to a modern suit. Adding vintage touches to modern outfits is easily accomplished this season, as the cooler weather makes adding a few extra layers practical; take advantage of these layers to display your unique vintage style.

You can find a wide range of vintage clothing from an array of independent boutiques at ASOS Marketplace.
