If you are getting married in the near future, no doubt you'll want to begin thinking about the music for your wedding reception now. Of course there is more to good wedding reception music than merely picking out the right songs. You'll need to make sure you choose the right people to do the music, you'll want to match the theme and mood of your wedding, you'll need to have special songs for special occasions, and of course, you'll want to consider using music for your grand entrance as well. So, the following are some things to keep in mind when it comes to picking the right music and songs for your wedding reception.

Choose the Music Performers

First of all, before you start choosing every last song for the wedding reception, you are going to decide who you want to do the music for your wedding reception. Do you want to have a DJ that will play all the songs you need, or do you want something a bit more personal and formal? You can choose a nice band, a singer, or even a pianist to do the music for the reception. Of course when making your choice you'll need to decide what you want to pay and what style you like for music, which will help you choose the right person to do your music at the reception.

Music and Your Theme

More than likely you have a special theme in mind for your wedding already and you want to be sure that you have music that will go right along with this theme. If you have a party type theme, then you'll want to go with party music; however, if you have a more formal occasion, you may want music that is a bit on the classy side. Make sure that the music goes along with your theme and also make sure that it is a reflection of your personality as well. No one wants to have a wedding reception full of music that they can't stand, so make sure you make the style of music you want clear to the performers at the reception.

Special Songs

There are going to be a few special songs to consider when it comes to your wedding reception. The following are some special events that will need a special song and you'll need to choose the music accordingly.

The First Dance - When you choose a song for the first dance as husband and wife, you will want to make sure that this is a special song. You'll want to go with a heartfelt love song that shows exactly how you feel about each other. A few ideas include "From this Moment" and "Amazed." Remember, this is a moment you will cherish forever, so you need the perfect song.

Father and Daughter Dance - You'll also want to choose a song for the father and daughter dance as well. Make it a song that is reflective of your relationship with your father. Some of the most popular choices for this song include "Butterfly Kisses" and "My Girl."

Cake Cutting - During the cake cutting you'll probably also want there to be some music, and this is the time to pull out some fun songs. Consider asking your musicians what types of songs are played for this event if you don't have any ideas of your own.

Last Dance - Of course the last dance song should be a special one as well. You will have to choose between a slow ballad or a more upbeat song for the last dance, so let your heart lead you when it comes to this choice.

Making an Entrance

When the bridal party and the bride and groom enter, this is a perfect time to use some music to punctuate your grand entrance. When you choose the music for this event, make sure that it is something upbeat that will have everyone turning your direction to watch you walk through the door as husband and wife.

These are just a few great ideas and suggestions to consider when you are looking for the perfect music and wedding reception songs for your big day. Keep these suggestions in mind and you'll be sure to have the music you've always dreamed of at your wedding reception.
