Buzz marketing on the internet is a unique system of making money using subtle and sophisticated word-of-mouth techniques. You can tell if you have created a loud buzz in cyberspace by the amount of internet traffic that your website gets in a day.

His choice of words in the title of his book serves as his first lesson in buzz marketing: Get noticed by doing the opposite of the norm. This uniqueness requires plenty of creativity to elicit a "Wow" from people, whether they laugh or cry while viewing your content.

Another tip that Hunt offers is this: "Don't copy other people. It is better to be a great you than to be a second rate clone of another." This brings to mind an old Taoist saying, "Learn from everyone but follow no one." It is one thing to be inspired and another thing to simply copy. You not only lose a little respect by being a copycat but you also lose your audience by showing them the same things that they see on other sites.

For Hunt, buzz marketing is at work when your site's viewership multiplies in leaps and bounds. Advertisers will notice you and offer you various options of earning money by directing some of that traffic to their sites. When this happens, you have achieved what every person dreams of doing, that is, to make money even while you sleep.
