Any mutation in DNA of breast cells leads to breast cancer and analyzing breast cancer causes can greatly help in understanding them and taking preventive measures accordingly.

First cause could be heredity where the BRCA 1and BRCA2 tumor suppressors undergo mutations or changes and result in breast cancer, genetically speaking.

There are no specific facts about how these DNA mutations that can cause breast cancer occur and it can only be said that reviewing some risk factors can point out to a possible occurrence of this problem in future, if preventive measures are not taken immediately.
Here again, risk factors are not by themselves indicative of whether a person can get breast cancer or not. For example, some risk factors can be worked upon like smoking or drinking as well diets while some like a family history or age or race cannot be worked upon and can only be endured.

1. Breast Cancer Causes could include risk factors like:

1.1Gender women are more prone to breast cancer than men

1.2 Age As women there are chances of getting breast cancer

1.3 Genetic factors

1.4 personal history of having cancer in one breast which may lead to a cancer on the other

1.5 family history

1.6 race where African-American women are found to be more susceptible to breast cancer,
dense breast tissue,
certain benign breast problems,
Lobular Carcinoma in sity (LCISW)
1.7 menstrual cycle where women began to start having periods at an early age like before 12 years or continue to have periods after 55 years

1.8 women who are exposed to radiation for treatment for some other cancer etc.

There are also other contributory factors that can lead to breast cancer.
1. For one, women who have their first child at around 30 years stand a greater risk and it is a fact to be noted that being pregnant reduces the risk of breast cancers to a great extent, as this can result in a reduction in the number of menstrual cycles, which incidentally, is one very crucial risk factor for the occurrence of breast cancer.

2. Birth Control Pills also have a negative side effect of causing breast cancers in some women and it is always advisable to seek the opinion of a doctor regarding the pros and cons of birth control pills before opting for them.

3. Use of combined hormonal therapy for post menopausal treatments that involve estrogen and progesterone addition can also lead to a risk of breast cancer occurrence and in case of using just estrogen addition, namely ET this risk seems to be reduced but then again if used for more than a period of 10 years or so, it can also lead to of breast cancer.

It would be better to discuss with your doctor about this Post Hormonal Theraphy and if possible take it in mild or reduced dosages for a short period of time to prevent the risk of breast cancer.

4. Not breast feeding the baby can also cause breast cancers and this could be due to the fact that when a woman breast feeds the baby, the menstrual periods are lowered for that time of say 1 to 2 years and this can reduce the risk of breast cancer easily.

5. Alcohol consumption, obesity and a lack of exercise can all lead to breast cancer and it would be advisable to take steps to ensure that these risk factors are eliminated completely for a healthy and long life.
