Will the Atkins Diet make you lose weight fast?
The answer is yes...
...but those quick results just may prove to be fleeting.
The truth is that most low carb diets do provide quick weight loss for those who use them.
There are several reasons for this, the predominant being the fact that when there is an absence of carbohydrates in the body it will actually manufacture its own in order to supply vital organs that absolutely need carbs.
This manufacturing of carbs requires the body to burn additional energy resulting in weight loss.
Another reason the Atkins Diet can produce fast weight loss for many is simply because people who are on the Atkins, or any other low carb diet, are typically consuming fewer calories in general do to the elimination of the most dense calorie foods... Which of course are carbs!
So here's the "but" that you've been waiting for...
...unfortunately, the vast majority of the results obtained on the Atkins Diet are short lived.
Why, you ask?
Because a lack of carbohydrates in your body will cause it to go into survival mode in which your body will become much more efficient at storing and conserving the food you consume. And you can see how this might pose a problem when you consider what happens when you have finally lost the weight you want and begin eating normal again...
...your body, now a highly trained calorie storing machine, will hold onto the food you eat with all its might, just in case there happens to be another famine!
The sad truth is that most individuals who have partaken in the Atkins or any other low carbohydrate diet have found themselves much fatter a few months after they finish the diet than they ever were before!
And you just may be thinking...
...if I can lose all this weight on the Atkins Diet and it's only when I stop the diet that I gain it all back, than how about I never stop?
Simply because you must stop!
Vital organs such as your brain, kidneys and liver absolutely will not function without carbohydrates and when carbs are removed from your diet for any extended length of time the affects can be extremely dangerous.
What people must understand is that there is a difference between "good" carbs and "bad" carbs.
Amazing weight loss is not a matter of eliminating "all" carbs. It's simply a matter of eliminating the bad ones and consuming the good ones at the correct times.
