We are always using our eyes. But, unless we consciously take a nap or rest them throughout the course of the day, they really don't get any rest. Our eyes are muscles that work hard and should be given ample rest. Think of bodybuilders. They push their muscles and then give them a much needed break—this facilitates healing. Not only do our eyes do normal distance and close up work all through the day, but they are equally strained with the addition of computers into our lives. Who hasn't sat in front of the computer for an eight, ten, or twelve hour span of time either working or playing online? There is always a price to pay for not giving your eyes a break. The "aspirin" culture we live in is looking for a quick fix that will solve the problem right when you swallow the pill. This is not a realistic outlook. Our bodies are various systems all interlinked that effect one another. Think of a pond. Imagine tossing in a pebble. See the ripples? Eye strain glasses are one piece of the puzzle that may help alleviate eye strain symptoms. Also consider lifestyle. Do you get all the necessary vitamins and minerals you need to function at 100%? Do you get enough sleep? Are you stressed? These additional factors may aggravate the eye fatigue, so keep whole body health in mind when trying to combat eye strain.
Holism is an important concept to keep in mind when dealing with health. A good way to tackle any problem is to come at it from many different directions. When you have a great prevention plan in place that considers diet, lifestyle, exercise, ample rest, and other factors (such as eye strain glasses), there is greater likelihood of success.
When dealing with any problem, the most important thing is not to give up. If there is a problem, there is a remedy. The famous writer, Ernest Hemingway, always said that he had to write ninety six pages of garbage before he got one page that he considered a masterpiece. This is encouraging. So if you are suffering from burdensome irritations from intensive computer use, analyze your diet, try eye strain glasses, look at all aspects of your life to see if you can improve. Don't give up and keep experimenting.
