The Pentax K5 DSLR camera is a perfect example of the industry's continued push to integrate smart programming and innovative technology. This is truly exciting stuff in many ways because cameras are giving only increased power and automation choices to the market. Even if you are very new to photography, you can learn how to use a camera like the K5. The learning curve is well within the reach of the average camera enthusiast, and you will be quickly on your way. What you can expect to find in the Pentax K5 are powerful improvements to make your experience much easier.
Let's take a quick look at the K5's auto-focus system because it does represent some changes you will want to know about. What you will find are improvements for more precise control, and this truly is responsive to detail. The K5 AF (auto-focus) consists of eleven sensor coordinates which also work in conjunction with nine sensor cross-coordinates. This camera processes environmental data in the auto-focus algorithm such as lighting. This is seen in lighting, and we know how much of an impact lighting has on focusing and clarity; especially in low lighting conditions. For unusually low light shots, you can use the additional spot-beam assist for increased lighting. You will appreciate the wide range of extra features available in the Pentax K5 DSLR camera. Just one very nifty feature concerns taking extended exposure photos. As you know, this type of shooting can present problems due to the introduction of noise. So, in response, the K5 has a new design for reducing noise in these scenarios. The noise reduction, NR, mode has improved sensitivity for greater clarity along with auto, off and on modes. Measuring light has become more precise, as well, due to increased metering resolution.
There have been reports by some users that the K5 has slight tendencies toward under-exposure. For some, the amount of this effect is perhaps just a little more than a quarter of an f stop. But the K5 does offer excellent low end ISO abilities which does give greater photographs than comparable models. If you do a lot of work in low light settings, you will find the K5 is able to focus faster and with increased precision. Just as an aside, for video shoots there is no auto-focus available, but reports from cameras that do have it are not that raving, anyway. The Pentax K5 DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera does have more refined improvements as opposed to major overhauls in certain areas. You can shoot videos, just like other cameras of course, but Pentax has not included certain capabilities found in other major brands. You can also attach a mic externally for video shooting, as well. But overall, keep in mind this is not intended to be a video camera, however it will produce good quality videos sufficient for most users. The K5 seems to be a solid digital SLR camera suitable for the market.
