Prepaid legal offers packages for legal services that are said to be more affordable than paying the retainer fee for an attorney. On the other hand, there are some whose circumstances may allow them to use it more frequently, and these are the people who recommend buying the prepaid plans.

Because you receive a commission ahead of time for each membership you sell, if someone drops their membership, you are charged for the number of months that went unfulfilled. For those who continue selling Prepaid Legal plans there is also a residual income option that kicks in after someone renews their annual membership. During the 45-day training period you become qualified after you make 5 membership sales or recruit 3 people to join the sales program. After this initial period, more sales are required if you still want to qualify and move beyond the rank of an associate in training.

In the end, whoever is selling these plans has the power to inform or mislead those who buy the memberships. Hopefully the company's incentives for renewals cause associates to make clear what customers are getting so that they will be happy enough to renew. This company is not the only one offering these kinds of prepaid services. If you believe you are likely to use them, it is worthwhile to check out and compare what other options are available for buying and selling these kinds of services.
