Have you ever wondered what to blog about? This is a good question if you have a blog and are trying to keep it up to date on a consistent basis. What I would like to do is give you 3 ways that you can use to come up with ideas to write articles for your blog.

1. Start A Swipe File

A swipe file is where you store ideas for future posts. This can be anything you see that makes you I think I should write about that. For the most part you are just jotting down an idea to refer back to later.

A swipe file should give you ideas to personally write in your own words in the future. I am not talking about copying other people's work.

2. Emails you receive

Instead of deleting everything in your spam folder scan it for ideas. If somehting catches your eye look it over and put it in your swipe file. Maybe you can use it later. Most of the spam we receive is really junk.

But I am finding that there are some really well written sales letters in there too! Not only in your spam folder, but look at your inbox and see if you can get an idea on what to blog about. Alot of times emails you receive are timely and can give you something current to write about.

3. Join A Discussion Forum

This is a great way to come up with ideas for a blog post. Join a disucssion forum that relates to the theme of your blog. Look at what kinds of questions people are asking in the forum. See which ones are getting the most repsonses.

Forum discussions that are lively with a lot of interaction among members can make a great blog post. Look at the title of the foum post. Then read some of the responses and jot down 3 or 4 key points. This is the outline for your blog article.

You can create a blog article for that specific day in a matter of no time. If you find things you want to write about, but feel you need a little more time put them in your swipe file and go back to them later.

I personally do not always feel like writing in my blog. What to blog about is not always the reason. Sometimes I just do not feel like writing. What I have found is once I get started the worlds come very quickly for me.

But it all starts with having an idea of what I want to say. I blog pretty consistently now, and so should you, because search engines will reward you. You will also see that your website stats will jump on the days you blog and social bookmark your posts.

This is 3 ideas on what to blog about. If you do these things reguarly you will find yourself keeping your blog current with interesting articles people want to read and keep coming back over and over.
