Article Directory :: Internet Marketing/Online Business Articles
Everyone knows that to make money online you have to sit down in front of your computer and work.
Actually that is not entirely true. You can pay someone to sit down and work for you, or you can buy advertising and let it work 24 hours a day for you.
One thing that gets people in trouble is thinking they are actually working when in fact they are just fooling around. Facebook is a good example of this.
I know people who spend hours every day on their Facebook account. It almost reaches the point of addiction for some.
The problem with this is the time it takes away from doing other things in your Internet business. If you want to make money on the Internet you actually need to be working on things that are productive towards building your business.
For most of us that means spending time getting traffic to our websites. The question becomes whether Facebook is a good traffic generation tool.
As it approaches almost one billion members it certainly has become a force online. It has almost caught Google in terms of daily traffic.
However, this doesn't mean that we are benefiting from this traffic. Unless you are purchasing ads on Facebook I fail to see exactly how you're going to generate a lot of traffic in comparison to the amount of time you spend.
You may need to determine whether social networking is a hobby or a business tool. From a business tool standpoint most of us do not get adequate traffic from our Facebook account to justify the amount of time we spend on it.
I would say if you are trying to make money you are better off doing other forms of Internet marketing such as pay per click, blogging, article marketing, and so on. This is a better way to justify how you spend your time building your business.
One thing I have heard of people doing is hiring someone to do their social networking for them. They actually outsource this function in their business.
To me that doesn't really seem like a good idea. Social networking is supposed to be more personal, and how can it be personal if you are paying somebody to do it for you.
The exception to this might be if you run a local business. As a business owner you are hiring employees to do various things in your company.
Advertising and marketing is one of them, and social networking could be something worth paying an employee to spend a certain amount of time on each week. I suppose the same could be true for any business including online businesses if you are portraying your Facebook account under your own name.
