There is no doubt that affiliate marketing is a good way to make money online. There are way too many people, including me, making money all over the world to dispute this point.

One way to make money with affiliate programs is to join 2-tier affiliate programs. The question we want to look at in this article is whether that is a good way to make money or not!

First of all you need to be a member of an affiliate program that has a 2-tier payment structure. This means you will be paid on all sales you make, and you will be paid on the sales of people you recruit into the affiliate program.

This is an excellent concept for the affiliate merchant. The idea is that if you are excited about a program, and making money with it, you will want to recruit people and help them duplicate what you're doing.

The merchant wins because they get more sales. The 2nd tier affiliate wins because they get to make a higher commission then you. You win as well because you get to make a lower percentage of what they sell.

The payment structure is the primary difference in two-tier affiliate marketing. As an affiliate you are going to be promoting products using the marketing materials provided by the merchant. So is the person you recruit.

Another difference is that you will be finding ways to recruit affiliates underneath you. This is good for the merchant because they now have you working for them in two ways.

If you have a website that is getting traffic for people looking for ways to make money 2-tier affiliate marketing makes sense. These people are already looking for ways to make money so you might as well earn a commission if they join an affiliate program you are already making money in.

Developing review webpages, or presell webpages about the affiliate program is a good way to do this. You describe some of the success you are having and how the new affiliate merchant can make money just like you.

To be honest with you the downside is these people can take up a lot of your time. If you are recruiting people who are brand new to affiliate marketing you may find yourself becoming an affiliate marketing trainer. You have to get a system in place to handle these questions or you can spend a lot of time replying to email or phone calls.

The other problem is the success ratio for people you recruit is probably not going to be as high as your own success. This can be frustrating, and you need to be aware that recruiting successful affiliate marketers is a numbers game just like any other part of Internet marketing.

In my opinion 2-tier affiliate programs can be a good way to make money only if you continue to spend the majority of your time on your personal sales.
