Are you currently an affiliate marketer that's not making much money? Are you thinking about getting into affiliate marketing, but aren't sure if you can make money online doing it? I briefly want to analyze the statement that affiliates are more in demand today than they have ever been in the past.

The affiliate marketing industry in general is still fairly young. Amazon started one of the first affiliate programs a little over 15 years ago. This means that new opportunities and strategies are cropping up all the time.

One problem that affiliate merchants face is how to find quality affiliate marketers. Most affiliate programs are free to join so there are plenty of affiliates signing up for programs all the time.

That actually is one of the challenges the industry faces. It's too easy to become an affiliate marketer because there's no upfront investment. Therefore people join programs and never follow through with actually promoting them. This ends up being a waste of time for everybody.

On the upside there are new opportunities to become an affiliate marketer all of the time. Virtually every niche available on the Internet today has affiliate programs available in them.

If you can't find an affiliate product to promote, you can always join the Google Adsense affiliate program. Let Google sell advertising for you and pay you when people click on the ads.

Google pays out close to $1 billion a year in commissions. This works so well because everyone can make money regardless of their experience level.

It really doesn't take any skill to get somebody to click on an ad. You are not asking your website visitor to purchase anything, so this is one of the easiest ways to make money with affiliate programs.

Affiliate marketing is a competitive business model to be in. Therefore to really be successful in it you will need to master certain Internet marketing skills.

One of the most important will be how to get website traffic to your affiliate offers. Another skill is how to present those offers in a way that's different than all of the other affiliates in the program are promoting.

For this reason developing your own websites around a targeted domain name is a proven strategy. Learning how to set up a website and effectively place affiliate offers on them is a skill that's worth learning how to do. At the very least you should outsource this to somebody if you do not want to do it.

As more products continue to be sold online businesses are looking for ways to do that. Affiliate marketing is a great business model for them. Therefore affiliates will continue to be in high demand today and in the future.
