I have been concentrating on article marketing to make money online for over seven years now. In that time I've learned several article marketing tricks that have helped me be more effective in writing and submitting articles.
In this article I am going to offer a few tips you can use to write better articles and get them online where people can find them.
1. Traffic Travis. This is a free software download you can use to do more effective keyword research.
I like this tool because it analyzes how many searches a keyword gets each month. It does this for you by comparing Google, Yahoo, and Bing side by side so you can see what the potential traffic is from these top three search engines.
2. How competitive are the keywords? Your goal is to not necessarily target the most popular keywords, but rather to find keywords with less competition you can incorporate to your articles.
The reason you do this is each article potentially can end up on page 1 of a search engine for your targeted keyword phrase. If you choose keywords that are too competitive you will never rank for those.
By choosing keyword phrases to get less competition it gives you the opportunity to rank for them. Over time you can be ranking for literally hundreds or thousands of keyword phrases. My site was found by over 5100 keywords last month.
The other thing I like about this strategy is once you rank you tend to stick there. If you ever make it to the top of a search engine for a very competitive phrase you constantly have to work at staying there or competitors will pass you.
3. Write catchy titles. Over the years I've developed a swipe file that's full of catchy titles.
Whenever something catches my eye I jot it down and put it in the swipe file. This could be something that I saw in the subject line of an email message inbox.
If I have a little bit of downtime I will browse article directories and look specifically at titles to catch my eye. I do the same thing when I'm hanging out in discussion forums.
4. Size does matter in reverse. Nobody wants to read a book or a report when you're writing an article.
Keep your articles at around 400 words so they will be accepted by the article directories. If your articles get to be too long break them into 2 articles or consider turning them into a report and marketing it.
5. Use Submit Your Article. This is easily the best submission service on the Internet today. They offer so many features that I will not list them all here. Go check it out and use it to get your articles into the top article directories.
