If you want to make money online from your website you need traffic to it. Link building is one way to do that.

If you have been doing Internet marketing for any period of time you have been told how important search engine optimization is. People go online everyday searching for things and SEO is part of how they will find your website.

Let's take Google as an example. When you look down the left hand side of a search page you see organic results. Google is ranking these sites based on several factors.

One factor that you have control over is internal linking. These are the links on your site that lead to another web page.

Here are 2 important internal linking tips that will help you rank better with Google.

1. Is your site easy to navigate? Site navigation is important to your website visitors if you want them to have an enjoyable visit.

It is also important to search engines. From an internal linking point of view you want to link to various inner pages on your site. Think of this as building your own mini web.

You should also create a site map. Search engines love it when you make it easy for them to find all of your pages from one easy location.

2. Text links. Hyperlink your keyword phrases back to web pages you have created specifically around those words.

If you blog this is easy to do. Embed the links in the body of the blog articles so search engines and your site visitors can click on them as they are reading.

This is a great way to increase the amount of time a person spends on your site. A search engine will notice this too.

Here is an important point. Do not hyperlink the words "Click Here", but use keywords from your targeted keyword list.

If you do not have a long keyword list you are trying to rank for you need to get one. Google Adwords offers a good site for this. I personally have used Traffic Travis to build very targeted keyword lists.

So instead of linking to a web page with the words "click here" use some like "make money quick" or "make money working online". Of course you will be linking to words in your own niche.

Do this offline as well in article marketing, link trades, blog comments, forum posting and so on. Build up your keyword relevancy for any phrase you want to rank for and watch your site start showing up for those keyword phrases.

Follow these internal link building tips to improve your website ranking with the search engines!
