Article Directory :: Business - General Articles
Many offline local business owners use their online website to present information about their company.
Their primary goal is to encourage people to pick up the phone and call them, send an email, or drive down to their store and purchase something.
An important question to consider is whether your website is as customer service friendly as your business is?
For example when someone lands on your website is it easy to navigate around in?
Many small-business owners have made the mistake of thinking more is better in terms of everything they put on their website. What you see is a webpage full of graphics, words, banner ads, and so on without any real organization to it.
Another thing to consider is what exactly you are hoping to accomplish when someone lands on your site. I know some small-business owners include content, but their primary focus above the fold on their site is a form a person can fill out to receive more information.
There is certainly nothing wrong with this because generating leads is what many small business owners hope to accomplish from their site.
Some websites are built primarily around keyword phrases that people are searching for. I personally think this is a good idea because it allows you to develop individual webpages around the targeted keyword phrase.
You can support the article that you place on the site with graphics to liven it up a little bit. You can also tell your website visitor exactly what you want them to do at the end of the article. This makes it very easy for your them to accomplish what they came to your site for to begin with.
I would suggest you install Google analytics on all of your webpages. This is a free program provided by Google and the information you derive from it is invaluable.
You can see exactly what pages a visitors coming to your site on. As you develop your online business you will find people entering your site on webpages other than your homepage.
You can see what keywords people are finding you from. If you are doing any type of paid small business Internet marketing you can see how much traffic you are getting from it.
You can also see how long a person is staying on your site, and how many webpages they are surfing once they land there. This will give you a good clue as to whether people are happy with what they are finding when they first come to your website.
If you are not getting the results you want you need to re-analyze whether you are making your website visitors feel welcome. Sometimes simplifying your site and providing direction to your visitor is all it needs.
