'Murphy's Law 2008 Calendar' by Arthur Bloch states that "an Expert is someone who has made all of the possible mistakes in a very narrow field of study". Mentors are sometimes regarded as Experts and possibly for the same reason.
Traditionally the term 'mentor' is given to one who advises, counsels, guides or teaches a younger or less experienced person. In modern days such a person is often referred to as a 'guru'. The mentor has wisdom and experience to offer the less experienced person. The one receiving the mentoring, called a 'mentee', needs to have the drive to acquire this wisdom or insight. Ultimately, the mentor cannot force the mentee to learn, nor can the mentor control how their insights might be deployed by the mentee.
A more contemporary view defines mentoring as 'a voluntary relationship based on mutual respect and trust with a two-way communication process. It provides an opportunity for sharing skills and experiences so individuals can develop towards their personal and work related goals'. The value of a mentoring system is in the availability of the more experienced individual who understands the processes or issues confronting a less experienced mentee and who can help them avoid the hurdles or setbacks along the way, or provide a sneak preview to the mentee of what lies in store.
With the advent of computer technology and the subsequent myriad of income-generating opportunities available through the internet, having a mentor who has already achieved success through Internet marketing is like having a secret map that gives instructions on how to find a hidden treasure. Conversely, not having a mentor and trying to succeed with Internet marketing, especially if you are a beginner, can be like trying to find your way blindfolded.
It is vitally important that if a person is considering using Internet marketing as a means of earning additional or unlimited income, they avail themselves of a mentor. Mentors can substantially alleviate the probability of the potential marketer falling prey to the criminal activities of fraudsters and scammers lying in wait on the Internet. Additionally, falling victim to a scam can be costly as often the victim will not be granted a refund when requested.
If you are considering Internet marketing as a money making enterprise, it is worth getting involved with a premier and reputable online business system that provides mentoring in a variety of ways, such as having a sponsor, up-to-date state of the art audio, video and written instructions and readily accessible Customer Support to quickly answer any queries or concerns.
Furthermore, an Internet marketing business that encourages contact with a mentor or sponsor is a business that wants you to succeed. To be successful at Internet marketing, it is recommended that you copy the actions of another successful Internet marketer, or Mentor. Visit http://internetmarketonline.com
