One man's blog can be immensely enjoyable, and can also earn him money. However you might be thinking "Why a blog? Wouldn't a website be better? Which should I choose?" To address the issue let's do a comparison.
1. Price tag
A decent looking website is not free. But even assuming you could get the site design itself for free - and that's not likely - the hosting will cost at least $10-20 per annum. A blog on the other hand can be free of cost.
2. Setting up
Creating a website is difficult if not impossible for those who lack the necessary skills; and even given the proper expertise, it can take a long while to complete the task. A blog however, can be created quickly and easily. The method involves filling in a few fields; and its planned in such a way as to make it easy for those without technical knowledge. One man's blog may be put up in a very short time, within a half hour or less by a person who has zero technical savvy, and be nonetheless every bit as fine as any first rate website.
A good website can involve a month to create. However, you can create an excellent blog in less than 30 minutes!
3. Making money
A website may be a good way to generate some spending money as a stage for selling various services or products. A blog can do likewise, and equally well if you market and promote it well. Any one man's blog will work as well as a website of similar quality.
4. Aesthetics
Animation, audio and video are some of the techniques that can be used on a website. Your blog spot by contrast may lack the capacity to utilize the same techniques, though it has enough to appeal to visitors. Therefore one man's blog spot might not be as "flashy", but just as effective.
5. Maintaining and marketing
A blog can be constantly updated from day to day. Consequently blogging can easily attract more visitors compared to a website given equal effort. Fresh content can be more easily added to a blog than to a website.
So you might say a blog promotes itself, since whenever fresh content is posted the search engines will index it again. In comparison promoting a website requires a great deal of time and effort to draw visitors.
Whether or not you already have a website blogging is a worthwhile. It's very common to find a website supported by blogs that have been created to focus traffic toward the website.
Blogging is also an excellent means of entertainment because you can share pictures, jokes, fun videos and such stuff with others at zero cost. Lots of those who started with a website eventually moved to blogging because it's easy, free, and can be continuously updated.
Thus the question we should address is not "Why have a blog?" but "Why not have a blog?" With so many advantages why would you not take advantage of this excellent opportunity.?
