October is an exciting month in Mexico. It is the month when one of its most famous festivals, the Dia de los Muertos, occurs. But that's at the end of October. For the rest of the month, it's all about fishing, especially in Los Cabos! If you take a road trip down to Cabo in October, you can fish in tournaments throughout the month, and potentially go home rich, since millions of dollars in prizes are being offered. So get your crew together, its time to get out and fish!

Los Cabos Billfish Tournament - October 12-16, 2010

The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament is going on October 12th through the 16th in 2010. Anglers compete to catch the heaviest blue marlin, black marlin, striped marlin, sailfish, spearfish, yellow fin tuna, wahoo and dorado. Early registration ends September 28th. Teams that register early are automatically entered to win a satellite phone communications system by Mackay Communications, Inc. Registration forms are available on the tournament's website. Brisbee's Black and Blue Marlin Tournament - October 19-23, 2010

The 2010 Brisbee's Black and Blue Marlin Tournament will be held in Cabo San Lucas from October 19th to October 23rd. This year's pot includes over $4,000,000 in cash prizes. It is estimated that 200 teams will be competing in the 2010 tournament. Like the name suggests, the Brisbee's Black and Blue Marlin Tournament targets marlin's - the big kind. Minimum weigh-ins must exceed 300 pounds. In 1994, a record marlin weighing in at 993 pounds was caught at the tournament. Puerto Los Cabos World Cup - - October 27-30, 2010

Each year IGT holds an annual fishing tournament in Cabo San Lucas. This year, the tournament is being held October 27th to the 30th. Anglers compete to catch the biggest and heaviest tuna, and black and blue marlins. The Puerto Los Cabos World Cup offers over $1,200,000 U.S. dollars in prizes. Individuals and teams are asked to register by October 15th but late registration extends through October 27th at 5:00 P.M. The Puerto Los Cabos hotel is the official host of the Puerto Los Cabos World Cup. If you want to spend all of or part of the month of October enjoying the Cabo beaches and participating in the fishing tournaments, then its time for a road trip! Pack up your fishing gear in your car or RV and head on down to Baja. Be sure and purchase your Mexican auto insurance online before you go.
